The grain market was sharply higher with wet weather being the main focus. Most forecasts call for more of the same wet rainy weather which is limiting field work with many wondering how much more corn will be planted given this late time frame. A wet and windy weather pattern is also troublesome for the wheat crop as it could break heads and knock down much of the crop.

Livestock futures for the week were lower. Cattle and calves on feed for the US slaughter market totaled 11.8 million head as of May 1, according to the Cattle on Feed report released by the USDA today, 2% higher than last year and the highest May 1 figure since the report began in 1996.
